(a) Deutsche Welle Radio and Television Training Centre

The Deutsche Welle Radio Training Centre (RTC) in Cologne and the Television Training Centre (TTC) in Berlin offer training and consultancy to broadcast organisations in developing countries and Eastern Europe.

The RTC was founded in 1965 as an instrument of German media support for the countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America and receives its mandate and the major share of its funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It is committed to the promotion of radio organisations by providing a high quality selection of training and consultancy projects. TTC’s goal is similar and is to further the development of mass media in developing countries in order to support the growth of democratic structures.

In countries where press freedoms are limited, DW aims to be “a voice of freedom”, in particular in regions of conflict and crisis, where it tries to be a guarantor of objective, unfiltered information.

(c) Friedrich Ebert Stiftung

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung was founded as a political legacy of Germany’s first elected president. As the foundation is sharpening its profile in the field of conflict prevention and transformation, it involves activities on the role of the media in crisis situations and the development of new concepts and tools directed to these efforts. The media programmes of the FES are part of the work of the two international divisions: the Division for International Cooperation and the Division for International Dialogue. In addition, the foundation offers post-graduate courses for journalists from Germany and abroad (the so-called Academy of Journalism) with the aim of giving them a broader understanding of mechanisms and subjects of international politics.
